International buyers from the SAARC, ASEAN, African, European and American countries are expected to visit the three-day Indian International Fabric Expo (IIFE) 2014 scheduled to open in Ahmedabad on October 14.
More than 150 Indian exhibitors would showcase their products including textile fabrics, denim, technical textiles, industrial fabrics, specialty fabrics, made-ups and home textiles. For powerloom entrepreneurs and exporters scouting for overseas buyers, this could be a golden opportunity, the organisers said.
The exhibition is being organised by the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) with support from the Union Ministry of Textile and under the Market Assistant Initiative Scheme of the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry, said Vishwanath Agrawal, Chairman, PDEXCIL.
He said international buyers and garment exporters/ manufacturers, buying houses and agents of foreign buyers are expected to visit the trade show.
Apart from fashion shows for better display of designs and colour of fabric, the event will also have seminars on issues related to industry and theme pavilions such as the Gujarat Pavilion and the North-East Pavilion, would promote Brand India. It would also facilitate networking and meetings between buyers and exhibitors, direct interaction and provide opportunities to forge long-term business tie-ups.
The powerloom sector, considered the lifeline of the Indian textile industry, is concentrated in clusters in areas such as Erode, Madurai, Ichalkaranji, Solapur, Bhiwandi, Malegaon, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhilwara, Doddaballapura, Gorakhpur, Komarapalayam, Ludhiana, Umargaon, Surat, Sircilla, Ranaghat, Nagari, Panipat and Burhanpur.
PDEXCIL was set up by the Union Ministry of Textiles with the objective of development of the SME weaving sector, promotion and marketing of powerloom products such as cotton fabric, made-ups and home textiles in domestic as well as international markets.
