NEW DELHI: The launch of PM Narendra Modi's 'Make In India' campaign on Thursday drew on the curiosity of potential investors from world over. The event was webcast by more than 100 Indian diplomatic outposts all over the world from "A (Abu Dhabi) to Z (Zagreb)".
Most of these events abroad were well attended especially those held in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The missions simultaneously held business outreach programmes.

"Singapore enthused by launch of 'Make in India' campaign. Huge auditorium full of investors," tweeted foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin.
The Indian embassy in Bangkok organised an event to coincide with the launch of 'Make In India' campaign. The event was attended by 150 select guests including the representatives of the new Thai government. Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla spoke about how India is looking to emerge as a major manufacturing and investment destination.
According to MEA, there was "huge" interest in Beijing too as the embassy outreach and webcast of Modi's speech attracted many entrepreneurs. Over 250 investors, officials as well as journalists attended the event in Beijing in which Modi's speech made in New Delhi was screened with elaborate presentations from Indian ambassador Ashok Kantha and trade counsellor Namgya Khampa.
A special business event and roundtable discussion on 'Investing in India's Manufacturing Sector' was held to seek China's investments in the backdrop of USD 20 billion commitment made during the just concluded visit of President Xi Jinping. China will invest in two industrial parks besides railway modernisation.

"The event was very constructive and fruitful. Especially Modi's remarks gave us clear guideline and gave us encouraging signal that Indian market is increasingly open," said Gao Ya, external communication manager of Chinese firm TBEA which had invested in Gujarat.
Even in Kabul, more than 100 Afghan businessmen attended the launch at the Indian embassy, according to ambassador Amar Sinha.
