Saini takes over as acting chairman of Rajasthan Public Service Commission
AJMER: R D Saini, member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), on Wednesday, took charge as the acting chairman of the commission after its incumbent Habib Khan Gauran resigned. Saini is sthe senior most member in the commission and he formally took charge of the post. Soon after taking charge Saini said the examination for recruitment of school lecturers (commerce) will be organized as per the schedule on September 27 and it will be taken up on a priority basis.
RPSC is re-conducting the examination after several errors were found in the question paper, last July. "We asked for cooperation of district administration to conduct this exams and our motive is to conduct all other examination as per schedule," said Saini. The examination will be held only in Ajmer.
He added that the decision on clerk recruitment will be taken after the commission received the investigation report from Special Operation Group (SOG). Saini said that maintaining the schedule of recruitment in different departments is his first priority so that students are not disturbed by the delay of examination.
The state government, on Tuesday night recommended deputing Saini as temporary chairman of the commission till the new chairman is announced.
Now, with the resignation of Gauran, RPSC is left with only three members out of seven and therefore it will not be possible to call a full bench of the commission to take any decision on the selection process. "There are certain areas on which the chairman can take decisions but on the issue of amendment, a full bench strength is required," said a source.
At present K R Bagadiya and Suraj Mal Meena are members of the commission, including Saini, who is now an acting chairman, while working tenure of three members Bharm Singh Gujjar, Parmendra Dashorra and Kanaiya Lal Berwa was over and another member, Shiv Pal Nagal, has resigned.

The four-month old drama in RPSC is now over after Gauran resigned from his post. The commission came into limelight, last June, when RPSC released the result of RAS preliminary exam 2013 in which it was found that five candidate were from the same city and three out of them were from same family. On June 23, RPSC wrote a compliant to director general of police Omendra Bhardwaj to investigate the possibility of paper leak in the examination.
Rajasthan police transferred the probe to SOG that busted a racket involved in the paper leak in the state. Pressure started building up on Gauran to resign. Three cases were registered in ACB against Gauran and his name was also attached with the paper-leak racket.
Sources said that now state government is preparing a panel to select chairman and members in RPSC.
