Victoria Beckham’s Career Timeline From Spice Girl To Fashion Powerhouse

17 April 1974:Victoria Caroline Adams born in Harlow, Essex to Jacqueline and Anthony Adams.

1994: Victoria gets her big break as Posh Spice in the Spice Girls - ‘Wannabe’ goes straight to number one a few years later.

1997:

Meets footballer David Beckham; soon become the UK’s power couple and are affectionately dubbed Posh and Becks by the British press.

1998: Papped with Becks who’s wearing a sarong. World wonders if she styled him...

June 1999:

Posh and Becks wear matching leather biker outfits at a London party. World despairs.

July 1999:

Couple wed on thrones in Ireland; become fashion royalty.

September 1999: The Spice Girls sit front row for the Julien Macdonald show at London Fashion Week.

Feb 2000: VB makes her runway modelling debut for designer Maria Grachvogel at LFW.

2000:

The Spice Girls split. WORLD CRIES.

2003: Victoria sits front row for Dolce and Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week (if only she knew what they would say about her later down the line…)

August 2003: Becomes the face of Jay-Z’s fashion line, Rocawear. Because she’s SO urban.

2004:

Develops a line of jeans for Rock and Republic called VB Rocks.

2006: Writes fashion advice guide ‘That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between’. Becomes a bestseller, apparently.

Jan 2006:

Walks the runway for Roberto Cavalli at Milan Fashion Week; is almost exclusively dressed by him for high-profile events.

March 2006: Gets her first taste of fashion editing as she styles close friend (at the time) Katie Holmes for Harper’s Bazaar.

September 2006:

Sits front row for her first New York Fashion Week show at Marc Jacobs (little did we know she’d be returning to NYC in a very different capacity soon).

2007:

Launches own range of sunglasses, dVb Eyewear, at Harrod’s, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

September 2007: Single-handedly spawns the rise of the Herve Leger bandage dress (not her greatest fashion moment).

December 2007:

The Spice Girls reunite for world tour. HURRAH!

April 2008: Lands the coveted cover of British Vogue.

September 2008:

VB makes her design debut at New York Fashion Week at a private presentation; met with critical acclaim.

2009: Becomes the model for Emporio Armani's female underwear range.

2011: Launches lower-priced diffusion label, Victoria by Victoria Beckham.

2011:

Named ‘Designer Brand of the Year’ at the British Fashion Awards.

2012: Victoria Beckham’s fashion range included in the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony Fashion Hall of Fame alongside Burberry, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. Also performs with the Spice Girls on top of iconic black cabs.

2014:

Designers at Preen forced to apologise after it was revealed they used to stop VB wearing their clothes. “Times were different. We weren’t chasing celebrities [then],” one of the designers told the Sunday Times Style.  

April 2014: Design duo Dolce and Gabbana label Victoria Beckham a ‘high-street designer.’ Ouch.

September 2014: Reports suggest Victoria wants the model-of-the-moment, Kendall Jenner, to be the face of her collection. She also launches her first standalone store on London’s Dover Street.
