KVS Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan starts

Thousands of students and teachers of over 1,100 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) of the country will be joining the countrymen in initiating Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the cleanliness drive starting from October 2.

ALLAHABAD: Thousands of students and teachers of over 1,100 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) of the country will be joining the countrymen in initiating Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the cleanliness drive starting from October 2.
Following the instruction of the Central government, KV Sangathan has asked all the regional offices to implement the initiative of Prime Minister in all KVs between September 25 and October 31.

Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan will be carried out in all the KVs across the country, mentions letter (F.No.110365/02/2010-KVS (HQ)) written by Dinesh Kumar, additional commissioner (academics).
The drive will be inaugurated by the HRD minister Smriti Irani. The minister will inaugurate the drive and but she inspecting various schools of Delhi region with other officials of KVS.
Schools have been suggested various activities which will be followed while carrying the drive. These are cleaning of desks and sitting area, cleanliness of classrooms, cupboard, dustbin, removal of cobweb and dust from walls, maintenance of display boards in classes, corridors and reception area, removal of broken furniture and placing it at a proper place, dusting of window panes and fans in classes and verandah, cleaning of laboratories and libraries, cleaning of toilets and drinking water area etc.

Schools have also been asked for pruning of shrubs and trees on the campus and checking of leakage or seepage of water points. Likewise, primary children have been asked to clean and decorate their classrooms and cupboard, under supervision of class teacher.
“Although, we have already asked all the schools to take care of cleanliness throughout the year, but drives such as this will give an added impetus to the efforts being undertaken by students and teachers,” deputy commissioner, KVS Varanasi region, PV Sai Ranga Rao, said.
