BHUBANESWAR: Wannabe scientists at the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) here had a reason to celebrate on Wednesday as Mangalyaan successfully entered Mars orbit. Several crucial components of the satellite and launch vehicle were manufactured at the centre. The employees and students of the centre are now working overnight for producing tools and components for Chandrayaan-2 scheduled for 2015.
"It was a matter of pride for all of us when Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned CTTC in his speech. It was a great recognition for us," said managing director of the centre Sibasis Maity. Apart from Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), CTTC here is one of the centres in India to manufacture high-precision components for spacecrafts, missiles, satellites and aircraft.
"Our employees and students are now working 24X7 to complete the order for the moon lander to be submitted to ISRO by March 2015. We are manufacturing some navigational components, tools and propulsion components," said deputy general manager of the centre L Rajsekhar.
The centre has been producing high-precision components for ISRO for the past 18 years. "Mangalyaan's success has motivated us for continuing our good work. We feel very happy and proud," said ISRO coordinator at the centre K Vijay Kumar.
