New business editor brings wealth of media experience [Gloucestershire Echo (England)]


(Gloucestershire Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PETER McMillan has been appointed business editor at Gloucestershire Media.

In his new role Peter will be responsible for business coverage in the Gloucestershire Echo, the Gloucester Citizen and Stroud Life and their associated websites.

In his most recent role as chief reporter at the Kidderminster Shuttle newspaper he set up and managed a daily online business section for the Shuttle and six of its sister newspapers covering North Worcestershire and the Black Country. He is also a former business editor of the Worcester News.



During his career Peter has edited a stable of weekly newspapers and monthly leisure publications. He has been a sports editor and worked in radio, both for the BBC and a commercial station.

Peter was public relations manager for a training and enterprise council, a role which involved working with businesses, business support agencies, training organisations and educational institutions. He has also been self-employed, providing media and PR services for a range of businesses, including managing publications for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and working for the two counties' former Education Business Partnership.


He is married to Gloucestershire Media's commercial features editor, Christine Donnelly. Together they have produced local history books. Peter is a keen sports fan and supports Manchester City.
