The Korea Gas Union, a gas industry association, said it successfully hosted its 18th Gas Industry Conference at Coex in southern Seoul on Monday.

More than 350 people, including the government agencies, Korea Gas Corp. and global energy-related companies such as Shell, Mitsubishi and Total, attended to share the latest information on gas technology and to discuss the pending issues of the industry.

This year, Australian Ambassador to South Korea William Paterson, Malaysian Ambassador to South Korea Dato’ Rohana binti Ramli and International Gas Union members from Tunisia and Mongolia were invited to give speeches.

“This year’s event will not only be the venue for reinforcing South Korea’s capacity in resources and diplomacy and improving the relationship with other countries, but also have a positive influence on our plan to attract the 2021 World Gas Conference to Korea,” said KGU chairman Jang Seok-hyo, who is also CEO of Korea Gas Corp.

The Gas Industry Conference organized by the KGU is the biggest annual event in the gas industry, launched in 1991.
