Kandhamal: BJD names Hemendra wife

BHUBANESWAR: The BJD on Tuesday declared Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh as its candidate for the October 15 byelection to Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat. The bypoll was necessitated following the death of her husband Hemendra Chandra Singh.
She is expected to file her nomination papers on September 25.
Pratyusha hails from a royal family of Nepal. "I will serve the people of the constituency and fulfil the dreams of my husband," she said in broken Odia.
BJD sources said a committee has been formed to oversee the campaigning. "More than half-a-dozen ministers will look after the electioneering," panchayati raj minister Arun Sahoo told TOI.
The Congress has also finalized its candidate and would be announcing the name soon, party sources said.
