India Inc in attendance, Narendra Modi to kick off Make in India campaign

A phalanx of India Inc including Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Essar Group chairman Shashi Ruia would be present when Prime Minister Narendra Modi rolls out is flagship 'Make in India' campaign to boost manufacturing tomorrow.

The campaign will have features such as a 24/7 e-Biz portal to address the industries' concerns and get back to them in 48-72 hours.

Aiming to provide a fillip to the domestic manufacturing and job creation, the campaign will look at streamlining the approval processes and provide fastrack clearances.

Detailing the functioning of the website that will be launched on Thursday, a commerce ministry document, said, "e-Biz portal would soon provide a 24x7, online, real-time platform for all central regulatory clearances."

The website will also bring in the state clearances on the same platform and will be monitored by a dedicated cell, which will handle queries from visitors in an interactive manner.

Other high-profile CEOs likely to be present at the launch include chairman of Tata Group Cyrus Mistry; Mahindra Group CMD Anand Mahindra, Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and ITC chairman Y C Deveshwar.

"A human interface has been deployed and has been made liable to revert back to the visitor's concerns within 48-72 hours. The government has already set up nodal offices in each of the ministry to support the website handlers," the official said.

Investor facilitation cell will provide assistance to the investors from the time of arrival to time of departure concerning all clearances. Visitors registered on the website or raising queries will be followed up with relevant information and newsletter.

A finance ministry official told dna, "This is essentially a part of of improving the ease of doing business in India. The PMO has conducted various meetings with the finance ministry taking feedback on the ease of doing business in the country."

The government has identified 25 sectors including automobile, auto components, aviation, biotechnology and construction that have potential to attract investment. Specific action plan for each of the sectors will be launched by the PM on Thursday.

To make it more successful, the campaign would be simultaneously launched in several state capitals, including Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.

The campaign will also be launched in countries having similar time zone as that of India.
