Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV), a pro-Hindu outfit headed by Yogi Adityanath, would form active organisational units across UP with the objective to project the controversial BJP MP as chief ministerial candidate for the 2017 UP Assembly elections.
Sources in the organisation said a slogan — “Desh mein Modi, pradesh me Yogi” (Modi in Centre and Yogi in state) — is being raised at HYV meetings for some weeks now.
“The slogan means we want Yogi Adityanathji as UP CM. That slogan is being raised in every meeting of all district units and other events,” said Akshay Jaiswal, HYV district president, Lucknow Mahanagar.
However, HYV media in-charge R P Singh said: “There is no official slogan to promote Yogi Adityanath as CM of UP. HYV workers could be raising such slogans on their own will at local level.”
Singh, however, admitted that HYV has decided to create active units in all districts.
As of now, HYV has 90 district organisational units in UP, of which 45 are active and organise programmes on Hinduva and different social welfare activities through the year.
“So far we have active units in only 45 districts; around 32 of them are in eastern UP and rest in western UP. In other units, we have decided to add new members and increase their activities on agenda of HYV in coming day,” added said.
Jaiswal said they are working to strengthen HYV in the state. He informed a meeting was called on September 11 where workers had resolved to go door-to-door and appeal to every Hindu family to send at least one member to join HYV.
When Adityanath had concluded his speech in Lucknow, a section of audience, most from BJP and HYV, had raised this slogan — “UP mein rehna hai to Yogi, Yogi kehna hai.”
Adityanath’s fans are already running an account on Facebook, “Yogi Adityanathji CM for UP”, which was created on June 1.
