BANGALORE: Two intruders attacked a homemaker using a blunt object inside her house in Taverekere, off Madiwala, on Tuesday morning. However, hearing her cries, the public managed to nab one of the attackers who tried to flee with her gold ornaments and handed him over to the cops.
The incident took place at 11.45am when 40-year-old Shashirekha had just returned home after dropping her two children to school.
Her husband was not at home.
The two men, who were following her, knocked on her door soon after she entered the house. The duo claimed they were from Bescom and were delivering her the electricity bill, which they claimed was in a new format.
Falling for the trap, Shashirekha opened the door. One of the men swiftly hit her with a rod and dragged her to an adjacent room, closing her mouth. The duo took her gold ornaments, including earrings and a chain, and got out of the house.
Shashirekha, who was bleeding profusely, shouted through the window for help. Bhagyalakshmi, her neighbour who was in the kitchen, heard the screams. “When I came out, I saw Shashirekha bleeding and shouting for help. Even I shouted for help,” she said.
Hearing the women, some men in the neighbourhood chased the culprits. They managed to catch one of the attackers, later identified as Babu. He has revealed details of his partner to cops and a manhunt is on to nab him.
“We rushed Shashirekha to hospital as they had hit her on the head. She is recuperating,’’ said Bhagyalakshmi.
