Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Central Jakarta Police will deploy 300 personnel when the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) stages a rally to protest against the inauguration of Basuki T Purnama as Jakarta governor to replace Joko Widodo who has been elected president.

"FPI has notified the Central Jakarta Police of its plan to stage a rally in front of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD)," spokesman of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Snr. Comr. Rikwanto said here on Tuesday.

Rikwanto said some 500 FPI members will get involved in the rally outside the DPRD building where Ahok, as Basuki T Purnama is popularly called, will be inducted as Jakarta governor on Wednesday (Sept 24).

FPI has appointed Noval as the rallys coordinator, Rikwanto said.

He called on the FPI members to channel their aspirations in an orderly way without disturbing the security situation.

The Central Jakarta Police have communicated with FPI representatives to discuss preparations to secure the rally, he said.

The police have asked FPI members not to bring with them weapons and other dangerous materials and take anarchic act during the rally, he said.

The police will act firmly under the national police chiefs regulation number 1 of 2009 against any demonstrator who takes anarchic act, he said.(*)
