Singer-songwriter James Blunt wed his girlfriend, Sofia Wellesley, in Majorca, Spain, on Sept. 19, reports the Daily Mail.

But the couple actually tied the knot at a London registry office on Sept. 5, a day after attending Elton’s annual End of Summer charity bash.

An insider said, “Sofia joked to friends that she was almost too hung over to get married.”

After Blunt, 40, and Wellesley ended their ceremony Friday, they were seen leaving the event in a dark Volkswagen Beetle. Wellesley wore a long-sleeved lace dress and tied her hair back into a bun. Blunt kept it simple in a dark suit and blue tie.

The couple reportedly got engaged in December 2013 after dating for one year.

Wellesley is a legal consultant in London. She’s the daughter of Lord John Henry Wellesley and is the granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington.

“It takes a strong person to be able to deal with somebody working in music,” Blunt told the Mail. “It’s hard when you’re with somebody and you become embroiled just because you were seen standing next to someone else. It takes a tough person to deal with that and I’m lucky to have her.”

Requests for comment from Blunt’s rep were not immediately returned.
