Soz visits flood hit areas

JAMMU, Sept 22: PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz today visited several areas in down-town Srinagar and listened to problems of the people who explained their tails of hardships and miseries during the recent devastating floods.
The visited areas included Waniyar, Eidgah, Kushalsar, Zadibal, Alamgari-Bazar, Kanitaar (Sabribal & Hazratbal).
Prof Soz paid obeisance at Dargah-Sharief and visited interior areas of Hazratbal and saw the extent of damage caused to houses by the floods.
Addressing the people at various places, Prof Soz explained to people that he has come to them in these interior areas to convey to them that he and his party cadres would remain steadfast with the people in their hour of hardships and do everything possible to mitigate their sufferings.
During the tour Prof Soz told the people that he had raised the demands for uninterrupted provision of free rations for six months and for availability of essential commodities such as LPG, Kerosene, Sugar etc with the Government. He advised the people to cooperate with the Government functionaries such as Deputy Commissioners, Tehsildars and Police Officers who would be instruments of relief to the people.
Prof Soz also assured them that Congress party would ensure proper compensation to the houses for partial or totally damaged. He further assured the people that the needed relief would flow to them before the onset of winter. He also committed himself to provision of tents required in these areas.
Prof Soz was accompanied in this tour by Shameema Raina, vice president Mahila Congress, Dr Sayed, Imtiyaz Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Mehrajuddin, Ghulam Nabi and senior social worker Ghulam Nabi Shaksaz.
