Tragic loss: Ten of two families dead in road mishap

Daidan is located 13 kilometres away from Haripur district.

At least 10 people belonging to two separate families died and one was injured in a road mishap in Daidan village on Monday.


Haripur DSP Ayaz Khan said a truck was en route to Hasanabdal from Haripur while two cars, one en route to Haripur and one to Abbottabad. The truck, which was over the speed limit, ran over both the cars in Daidan village. Daidan is located 13 kilometres away from Haripur district.


He added five of one family died on the spot while a woman named Zarqa was injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. The dead were identified as Gul Bagh, Bawa Pehalwan, Gul Khandan, Asadullah and Daulat Khan.


All the passengers of the second car died on the spot, said the DSP. They were identified as Rovila Bibi, Ilyas, Saima Bibi, Hafiza Bibi and Mehak Bibi. He mentioned the accused truck driver managed to flee after the incident and the police impounded the vehicle.
