Pick-up truck hits power pole on Range Road

A pick-up truck struck a power pole in Whitehorse over the weekend, knocking out electricity in the area of Range Road and Mountainview Drive.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. Saturday.

RCMP say the lone occupant of the 1997 Ford Ranger, a 42-year-old woman, was trapped inside the vehicle because of exposed electrical wires.

Rescue crews were unable to reach her until technicians from ATCO Electric disconnected the power.

The woman was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital with undetermined injuries.

The RCMP are continuing their investigation.
