Sanjjanaa to play a sexy item girl in her next

Sanjjanaa, who in recent times has been seen in rather deglam avatars, be it Mahanadi or her upcoming Mumbai to Mandya (remake of Renigunta), is reversing the trend in her next. The actress plays the lead in journalist-turned-filmmaker Gaurish Akki’s Cinema My Darling, which deals with the film industry. While initial rumours suggested that Sanjjanaa would be playing a film actress in the film, she now reveals that her role is that of an item girl.
The actress, however, quickly clarifies that it will be a class act. “I play a super successful item girl, who has the aura of a star. She came into the industry to become an actress, but finds success in doing special numbers. In terms of comparison, I’d say that the character is much like Malaika Arora Khan,” says Sanjjanaa, adding. “My character is at a stage in her career at which she doesn’t mind doing mainstream roles, but is happy where she is.”
The film, says the actress, deals with her character’s journey in the industry and that of the character played by Vihaan Gowda, a rich kid who wants to get into acting, but isn’t sure about it, and his attempts to get close to this girl.
