OHS girls suffer back-to-back shutouts

But the Yellowjackets suffered a 5-0 loss to 2013 Class AA state semifinalist Cicero-North Syracuse and fell, 3-0, to Liverpool on Sunday, in the Oneonta Girls Varsity Soccer Tournament at the Wright National Soccer Campus.
It marks the third straight loss for the defending Class B state champion Yellowjackets, who lost, 3-2, to Seton Catholic Central on Wednesday.
"I tell the girls all the time that you don't know until you know," Mackey said of the benefit playing C-NS and Liverpool. "I try to explain it to them, but you don't know until you play them live. You don't know until you see how they handle it under that pace of play. When I talk about goal-side and ball-side, and the angles your hips are at and what your balance is like. Now they've seen it. Now you know and you have to remember that in practice and the next time we have a game. I hope it helps speed up the learning curve."
In the loss to C-NS, the game was scoreless 33 minutes into play.
"They were clearly the bette team, but I was very happy with the way we were playing into the wind in the first half," Mackey said. "We gave them shots, but they were all good angle shots and we're confident

"She's an all-state forward and they went toe-to-toe, head-to-head all over the field," Mackey said. "Maddy made great stops, and Akinpelu can flat fly and she's good at possessing. I thought all our defenders played well.
