Senior Advocate Vikas Singh continued his rampage against Prashan Bhushan, firing a fresh salvo against the advocate during the hearing of the 2G case today..The drama took place as the hearing in the case was drawing to a close with Singh remarking that,.“He [Bhushan] refused to take up a PIL matter saying his family member was involved. My juniors are witnesses to the incident.”.Bhushan immediately took objection to Singh’s statement:.“He is making scandalous [and] totally false allegations.”.Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave, who was appearing for petitioner Centre for PIL (CPIL) today, also joined Bhushan in the protest..Justice HL Dattu, who was taken aback, stopped Singh from making further allegations and proceeded to dictate the order..The Bench headed by Justice HL Dattu agreed to consider Bushan’s application to recall its order directing disclosure of the name of whistleblower who revealed details of visitors’ register at CBI chief Ranjit Sinha’s official residence. The Court has now sought the assistance of Senior Advocate Anand Grover to decide on whether the identity of the whistleblower in the matter should be revealed to the court. Grover is the Special Public Prosecutor in the 2G trial..Justice Dattu further said that “any order made by us on the application will have its own ramifications on the cases pending before us and filed in the future”..In the last hearing, the Court had directed CPIL to disclose the identity of the whistleblower. CPIL had opposed it today over questions relating to the safety of the whistleblower..Singh, on the other hand, had opposed the stand of CPIL saying that Whistleblower Protection Act prescribes the disclosure of the identity of the whistleblower to the Chief Vigilance Commissioner. He had also alleged that the petitioner’s conduct in not trusting the judges of the Supreme Court and refusing to comply with the Court’s direction amounted to contempt..The matter will now be heard on October 10..Image Courtesy.Vikas Singh.Justice HL Dattu
