Google, Apple seek to boost devices encryption


(MENAFN) Google Inc. and Apple Corp. said they are boosting encryption tactics on devices powered by their mobile operating systems, iOS and android, Times of Oman reported.

The move means that information stored in these devices, including pictures, messages and other personal data stored, will be blocked from the government even if it has a court-issued warrants.

A Google spokesman has announced that encryption is already offered for the Android system on smartphones and tablets, but will be turned on automatically in the upcoming version updates.

The two US tech giants are among international firms who seek on firming up trust shaken by leaks of massive online spying by US officials and the recent hacking scandal of celebrities' iCloud accounts.
