BHOPAL: A major accident was averted as the roof of a government primary school in Satna district collapsed on Saturday.
A total of 50 students are enrolled in the school and only 29 were present at the time.
But given the dilapidated condition of the school building, the students were being taught outside the classroom for the past six months. The class room was kept locked to avoid any untoward incident, said sources.
The incident took place at Paturi Chuwa village that comes under Barondha police station of the district. Sources said that classes were going on when the incident took place and chaos prevailed among students who were reading outside after the roof of the school collapsed but no one was injured.
Senior officials of the education department in the district have ordered that students of the school should be shifted to a nearby higher secondary school at Mahaten village, added sources. A probe has also been ordered into the incident, said sources.
