BHUBANESWAR: Expelled BJD leader Prafulla Ghadai on Sunday put up a brave face and questioned the manner in which he was thrown out of the party.
"The president should have issued a show-cause notice or suspended me. But he abruptly expelled me from the party," said Ghadai.
BJD president Naveen Patnaik expelled Ghadai on Saturday, following a newspaper report in which the veteran leader ridiculed the former.

Ghadai, a former minister, said he did not go against the party or the state government. "In a private conversation, I just made some comments on the way the leader functions."
Without naming anyone, the former BJD vice-president said other party leaders also discuss Naveen and his style of functioning much more than he did.
Expecting action against leaders allegedly involved in scams, he said, "People of Odisha expect similar action against the tainted leaders." He, however, rubbished allegations made by some BJD leaders over his association with Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra in the failed coup bid against the chief minister on May 29, 2012.

"The leaders, who were close to Pyarimohan, are now the most trustworthy persons of the chief minister," he said.
On his next course of action, Ghadai said, "I will work for the party and no one can bar me from voting for BJD."
His MLA son Pritiranjan said he would remain a disciplined member of the party. "Naveen Pataik is the supreme leader of BJD. I would work for the party under his leadership," he said.
BJD spokesperson Pratap Keshari Deb justified the explusion and said there was no need to serve a show-cause notice on Ghadai.
