There was a time when you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing one of his many hit songs, but his recent hiatus from the industry seems to be coming to an end.

Music mogul Akon is set to return to Dubai on Wednesday, September 24 when he takes over Cavalli Club at the Fairmont Hotel for a special concert. Having played several gigs in the UAE over the last few years, the American hip-hop singer and producer is back for more with a show that will likely combine some classic club bangers alongside new material.

No stranger to controversy, the 41-year-old built a career off the back of his many legal problems going so far as to name his record label Konvict Muzik. His popularity across the globe is evident with more than 10 millions record sold worldwide and 40 Billboard Hot 100 songs, including hits like Lonely, Smack That, I Wanna Love You and Dangerous.

Akon also famously helped launch the career of Lady Gaga, helping to make him one of the wealthiest producers in the industry.

Tickets to the show are Dhs300. For reservations call 04 332 5555.
