Gujarat CM distributes land rights papers to 7,000 tribals

The CM also launched a toll-free telephone helpline for the Valsad district for providing toilets.

anandiL The Garib Kalyan Mela was kick-started in Jamnagar by Patel and she visited Nana-Pondhha village of Kaprada taluka in Valsad district.

Chief Minister Anandiben Patel carried forward the 7th edition of Garib Kalyan Mela to Valsad district and distributed records of land rights to 7,000 tribals of six districts of the south Gujarat, said an official release, on Sunday. Patel also distributed benefits of various other schemes to the tribals during the event.

The Garib Kalyan Mela was kick-started in Jamnagar by Patel and she visited Nana-Pondhha village of Kaprada taluka in Valsad district, on Sunday. According to the official release, Patel distributed records of land rights of around 15,000 hectare land to the tribals of Valsad, the Dangs, Tapi, Surat, Navsari and Bharuch districts. It added that the estimated value of the land given to the tribals was around Rs 100 crore. Apart from this, the CM also gave cheques worth Rs 11 crore to 4,370 beneficiaries of various schemes for the welfare of tribals. At the same time, around 175 women who were members of the Women’s Milk Co-operative Society were also given financial aid to the tune of Rs 66.40 lakh to purchase livestock.

The CM also launched a toll-free telephone helpline for the Valsad district for providing toilets to those who don’t have toilets at home.
