Wolfsburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - A pair of goals from Ricardo Rodriguez lifted Wolfsburg to its first win of the campaign on Sunday as the club claimed a 4-1 triumph at home over 10-man Bayer Leverkusen.

The match turned dramatically after just seven minutes when Leverkusen's Giulio Donati was sent off for brining down Wolfsburg's Junior Malanda inside the penalty area.

Rodriguez stepped to the spot and made no mistake, and after just eight minutes, Wolfsburg was up a goal and up a man.

However, Leverkusen battled back to level the contest just before the half- hour mark when Kevin De Bruyne's shot hit the post, leading to a break for Leverkusen that saw Karim Bellarabi knock a ball down for Josip Drmic, who held off his man and fired a shot past goalkeeper Diego Benaglio.

Wolfsburg struggled to take advantage of its numerical superiority, but Vieirinha put the hosts in front just before the break when he found himself unmarked at the back post to head home a cross from Rodriguez.

A corner kick from De Bruyne was hammered past goalkeeper Bernd Leno by a nice volley from Rodriguez in the second half, making it 3-1, before Aaron Hunt secured the win by coming off the bench to notch his first goal of the campaign.

Also on Sunday, Monchengladbach and Cologne battled to a 0-0 draw, leaving both clubs with three draws from their opening four games.
