Pratibha vouches for a healthy life

If it is happening in Mumbai, Goa, Pune and Bangalore, why should Hyderabad lag behind. For once, it’s not about infrastructure, rock concert or a Hollywood actor’s visit. Giving a break to the routine thoughts and activities, Hyderabad on Sunday saw a new carnival.

This carnival sans stilt walkers, jugglers and beer guzzlers saw a lot of dancers, had dance music, a lot of loud chatting socialising and hearty laugh while still looking at a new way to stay fit.

Those who attended the carnival are’t nursing a headache from a hangover but are enjoying a pain of a different kind. Enjoying pain? ‘The good kind’.

Fitness carnival is the new buzz. It has dance, music, chatter, a lot of free dance workout sessions, healthy drinks and a lot of exchange on thoughts on healthy living, a happy lifestyle. So what is fitness carnival all about? “A carnival where fitness is a big part without the environs of a gym or a studio and where couples and friends can unwind after work,” explains yoga instructor Pratibha Agarwal.

Fitness and nutrition expert from Mumabi Rujuta Diwekar has been doing it for a while now. Her facebook page shows the kind of activities her group does by keeping a constant connect with greenery, the sun, fresh air and sometimes the sea.

In the West, these kind of carnivals are popular as well, and men and women do not mind parting with their couch, soccer match on TV and colas to be a part of a mass fun activity.

The first of its kind in the city, this carnival was more on the line of introducing participants to fun activities that can change or rejuvenate their mind and bodies. Pratibha who focussed on acro and partner yoga by Anahata Yoga Zone explains, “it was like a crash course on what we can do with our bodies to stay fit. Instead of telling people what to do, we gave them a choice between Yoga, zumba etc. As a yoga instructor and practitioner, I focussed mostly on breathing and yoga routines for everyday.”

From the organisers to the participants everyone was excited and enthusiastic about this carnival because it was that one step that was most needed to motivate busy corporates and couch potatoes.

The Carnival also featured the first master class of Zumba Sentao by fitness jammer Jags. “The day-long carnival was focussed to make a fun work out session without tiring the participants and to make it a family affair we included session for kids as well. Make children dance and jump about and will they complain?

That’s exactly what we targeted at, while keeping their parents busy with their routines. Besides we also did Bollywood fitness party by Mahesh Katta, Zumba Toning by Praveen and Shravanthi and Hip Hop fitness workshop by Sanjay MJ,” explains Jags. Besides the laughter, dancing and workout the participants lapped up the nutrition workshop with Katta Revanth.
