Myers delivers firing news shortly after taking new role

Welcome to Hollywood!

DC spin doctor Dee Dee Myers barely had a chance to charge her phone at Warner Bros. before facing down the wolves.

Myers, the former White House press secretary for Bill Clinton and new communications czar at Warner Bros. Entertainment, stepped into the role just in time to deliver the news that her boss Kevin Tsujihara is booting about 1,000 staffers worldwide, according to reports.

Myers knows Washington inside out and was a consultant on Warner’s legendary show “West Wing,” but she’s been as quiet as a church mouse, except for a few words to The Wrap: “The plans are still in process. We’re reducing costs and it will result in reduced overhead, but the plans are not done,” Myers, who had no comment for On The Money, said

Tinseltown is known as a tight-knit “community,” but Myers’ every move is being watched closely to see how she adapts.

She may take a page from Disney’s able communicator Zenia Mucha, who also moved to media from politics — she ran New York Gov. George Pataki’s press operation. And Myers may want to lunch with Principal Communications’ Melissa Zuckerman and Paul Pflug, who handle the likes of Marvel boss Ike Perlmutter and Live Nation’s Michael Rapino, for advice on the inner workings of Tinseltown. But perhaps she’s already got her list of good guys and bad guys.
