The Kothapet police on Saturday arrested an ex-serviceman, Sk. Rahimuddin for plotting to kill his estranged wife. Incidentally, he had procured tapanchas and bullets from Uttar Pradesh for the purpose. Rahimuddin’s wife, who deserted him a few years ago, had filed a dowry harassment case against him. Rahimuddin, who developed grudge against her, sketched a plan to eliminate her, said West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) S. Raghava Rao. Disclosing this to reporters here on Saturday, the ACP said Rahimuddin, a native of Pedana, got married in 2001. The couple got separated following some disputes, and she filed a case under Section 498 (a) against her husband.
Rahimuddin was arrested in the case and was released on bail. He planned to kill his wife and procured two tapanchas and bullets from a village near Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
Gun supplier soughtPolice arrested the accused while he was moving suspiciously at the railway booking office at Kothapet on Friday. They are also trying to find out the supplier of the guns in UP, said Kothapet Circle Inspector P. Venkateswarlu.
