PANCHKULA: Some miscreants beat up a 28-year-old youth and shot him at a restaurant on Morni road after a heated argument around 2.30am on Saturday. The victim, Kapil, a resident of Chandigarh who was in his restaurant, Dark Night, with his friends, entered into an altercation with a group of people. Both groups had past rivalry.
Sources said men of the other group fled from the spot and the victim was rushed to a private hospital in Sector 21, Panchkula.
Police are yet to record the victim's statement as he is unfit to give any statement so far. "He is not in the position to issuing a statement to the police. We went to the hospital in the morning to get his statement but could not. It is a case of old rivalry between the victim and the accused", said a senior police official
Hari, a resident of Sector 45, Chandigarh, said seven to eight accused drove in to the restaurant and fired in the air. Then, they thrashed his son. Police are yet to file a case. "We will register a case after the victim makes a statement," the police said. Doctors said the victim has suffered multiple fractures and severe injury on his right shoulder. "He is stable for now. He was beaten up badly and was drenched in blood", said a doctor.
