Sachin Tendulkar lends helping hand to flood-affected Jammu and Kashmir

Moved by the devastating flood in Jammu and Kashmir, Sachin Tendulkar has come forward to extend a helping hand to the Valley’s people. The legendary batsman has donated relief material and Rs 25 lakh from his MP fund for those affected by the flood. When contacted Tendulkar confirmed the development but chose not to comment.

It is learnt that Tendulkar contacted Ranjeet Kalra, an official of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, and expressed his desire to help the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Besides five tons of eatables and 1,000 blankets, Tendulkar made sure 400 water filters were also send to the Valley. Tendulkar got in touch with the water purifier company for whom he is frequently seen in advertisement and made sure a truck is dispatched to Jammu and Kashmir.

The water filters will benefit nearly 10,000 people. Apart from this, 100,000 chlorine tablets to purify water for 10,000 households for the next three months have also been sent to the Valley.

The BCCI has, meanwhile, decided to shift Jammu and Kashmir’s Ranji Trophy home matches to Mohali. The flood has left the two cricket grounds in the state in poor condition.
