Iran's Alinejad Reinstated as VP of Asian Wushu Federation [FARS News Agency]

(FARS News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TEHRAN (FNA)- The Asian Wushu Federation's Board of Directors reelected Mehdi Alinejad as the Vice-President of the federation for another year.

The meeting of the Asia Wushu Federation was held on Friday and Alinejad was re-elected again as Vice-President.

He is currently member of administrative board of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) as well as president of West Asia Wushu Federation.

In the election, Timothy Fok from Hong Kong was elected as the president and Chen Guorong from Macau became Secretary-General of the Asian Wushu Federation.

Secretariat of the Asia Federation also transferred from Tokyo to Macau after 27 years.

Meantime, Mohammad Pour Gholami was also elected as Vice-President of technical committee.

Wushu is an exhibition and a full-contact sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts. It was developed in China after 1949, in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts, although attempts to structure the various decentralized martial arts traditions date back earlier, when the Central Guoshu Institute was established at Nanking in 1928. In contemporary times, Wushu has become an international sport through the IWUF, which holds the World Wushu Championships every two years; the first World Championships were held in 1991 in Beijing and won by Yuan Wen Qing.
