35 Taliban militants killed in Afghanistan
25 others wounded in security operations across the country, says interior ministry
KABUL
At least 35 militants were killed Friday by Afghan security forces during armed operations against Taliban militants across the country, according to the Afghan Interior Ministry.
The ministry also confirmed that more than 25 Taliban militants were wounded and 4 others were taken into custody in the same operations while dozens of roadside bombs placed by Taliban were defused in different regions.
The operations were carried out in Kabul, Kunduz, Nangarhar, Baghlan, Zabul, Uruzgan, Wardak, Khost and Helmand provinces.
Meanwhile, Taliban claimed that its fighters killed 12 security forces in clashes in Logar, a key province near the capital Kabul.
Violence has spiked in the country in recent months as most foreign troops prepare to leave by the end of 2014.
