His Sesh Boley Kichu Nei might not have touched the right chord with the audiences, but Anjan Dutt has clearly moved on. He is set with his next, Mon Baksho, which will mark his directorial debut in Bangladesh. The film is a thriller revolving around a father-daughter relationship.
Dutt, who signed a contract with a local production house in Bangladesh on his trip to the country during Eid-ul-Fitr, will play the father in the movie.
Last year, Dutt had released his album, Unoshaat, in the country. Says Tushar Abdullah from the production house, who has also penned the story, I'm looking forward to working with Anjan Dutt. He has an exciting filmography."
Giving an insight into the storyline, the writer says, The film is about complicated human relationships. Here's a daughter, who moves from one man to another in search of true love. The first man she gets involved with cannot give her the love she desires; she soon realizes that the man lacks depth. Thereafter, other men come into her life and the journey continues."
The pivot of the movie is the turbulent father-daughter relationship. Anjan Dutt plays a poet, who has a girlfriend. It's not that they have a goal in their relationship; it's more of a comfortable co-existence. He is a widower and despite being concerned about his daughter, he can never share her emotional upheavals. There's a distance between them that they cannot bridge. His girlfriend, on her part, is extremely supportive of the young girl and even counsels her. But can the girl come back to her father is what the film is all about," adds Tushar.

Popular Bangladeshi model Bidya Sinha Mim will essay the character of Dutt's daughter, though no one has been cast yet in the role of his girlfriend. Bidya is the most-talked about model here and we are sure she will be able to pull off the role with elan. The other artistes will be from Bangladesh," he says.
The soundtrack, however, will feature popular names from both sides of the border. Scored by Neel Dutt, the songs will be rendered by Rupankar, Anupam Roy, Somlata from Bengal and Kona, Elita and band Chirkutt from Bangladesh. Shooting will begin in Dhaka in November and the film will be wrapped up by March.
Spoiler alert: What if the girl doesn't come back to her father ever?
