Guwahati: A fire at a private recording studio, located in the city’s Seven Mile area, gutted the ‘final audio tracks’ of singer
Zubeen Garg’s next album on Friday. It is believed that a short-circuit triggered the blaze.
The popular
vocalist was scheduled to release his album, described as a ‘tribute’ to Assam’s melody king Jayanta Hazarika, on Saturday at a programme in Shraddhanjali Kanan.
Garg cancelled the show. The studio belongs to a co-musician of Garg’s and the
singer would often record his songs there. “It’s very sad. Our efforts have been wasted. It will take another 10-12 days to edit, mix, and get the songs ready,” Zubeen said. At least seven to eight ‘final’ tracks were damaged in the fire, said Garg. “I wanted to gift this album to my fans tomorrow (Saturday) in memory of legend Jayanta Hazarika. I had to cancel the program,” the singer said.
