AMRITSAR: A man who had threatened to blow up the sarai of Golden Temple wanted the police to focus on lax security arrangements in the vicinity of the holy shrine. Amritsar police commissioner J S Aulakh said on Friday that they had arrested Kamal Verma, a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, who had made the hoax call to the manager of Golden Temple asking for cash and had also threatened to blow up the sarai.
During preliminary investigations, it was revealed that Kamal was on a visit to Amritsar, when someone stole his handbag having a mobile set, said Aulakh. Kamal was upset with the poor security around Golden Temple and wanted the police to pay attention and made the hoax call. "He managed to find the number of manager from the directory and made the threatening call," said Aulakh.
