Varanasi: Providing an easy access to internet for students a major portion of the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV) will be turned into Wi-Fi zone. For surveillance, close circuit cameras (CCTVs) will be installed in the complete premises of the university.
According to chief proctor, MGKV, Prof Kalaplata Panday, three Wi-Fis have been installed in the newly created park ‘Gyan Vigyan Udyan’.
The students can have unlimited access to internet for study purposes here during the college timings. The park has been created with a view to accumulate the rich cultural heritage of the city.
The epics from Sarnath, the Ganga ghats, the famous temples of the city, all have been carved on the walls by the students of department of performing arts, said Panday. However the seating arrangement in the park is in jumbled form. The trunks and wood logs of old dried trees had been used for seating purposes. Panday said that the idea of using trunks and wood logs has been taken from the Madhuri Park at Arunanchal Pradesh.
CCTVs will be installed in the premises for safety purpose. 17 CCTVs will be installed in the Humanities department and will cover the girls’ hostel gate and the departments of social science, commerce, science and education will also have CCTVs. Three boys’ hostels will also be covered under the surveillance. The monitoring of CCTVs will be done by chief proctor and vice-chancellor.
Meanwhile, the college premises has also opened a railway reservation counter at the premises. But counter is only accessible for employees and students of MGKV.
