National Institute of Technology to be set up in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Minister Ghanta Srinivasa Rao today said that a National Institute of Technology (NIT) will be set up in Elluru in the West Godavari district.

The minister held a meeting in this regard today with officials. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wanted to develop the state as a knowledge hub, he said. As part of the plan to set up 11 higher education institutions in the residual state of AP, as mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill 2014, the West Godavari district has been selected for NIT, he added.

A special team has been set up to select the land for NIT, he said. The team visited Ramasivangaram in PeddaVega Mandal today. As much as 300 Acres of land will be required for the proposed NIT.
