Smartphones will soon turn into pain relievers, with Philips introducing a new set of gadgets this month, which can be controlled through an app., from an iPhone or iPad, for relieving persistent pain. The devices PulseRelief and Blue Touch can be controlled via the Philips Treatment app., which lets users choose the type and intensity of treatment they require.
Powered by the Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation or TENS technology, PulseRelief transmits electrical pulses to your skin's surface, and activate the underlying nerves. This in turn, prevents pain signals from reaching your brain, by releasing endorphins, which will lessen your pain. The treatment app lets you choose from around 60 intensity levels and is primarily meant for people with musculoskeletal pain.
BlueTouch uses blue light therapy that shines blue LED light against your skin to stimulate the release of your body's own nitric oxide, which increases local blood flow and supports the body's natural recovery process. Similar to PulseRelief, BlueTouch also can be controlled by the treatment app which lets you choose from a range of treatment levels.
The devices will be soon out in stores in late September and will be available online from November.
