Japanese two wheeler maker Yamaha launched the updated Fazer FI version 2.0 in India on Wednesday at Rs 83,850 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Fazer's headlamp enclosed in the fairing gets a minor revision as do the side panels. New graphics and a few changes to the engine have also been made.
The Fazer FI 2.0 gets 'Blue Core' technology in its engine, which Yamaha recently debuted in the FZ version 2.0. Blue Core, sounding much like BlueEfficiency in Mercedes, claims to enhance fuel efficiency of the motorcycle without compromising on power and the fun-to-ride factor.
The fuel injected engine of the new Fazer now displaces 149cc, down from the previous version's 153cc and makes 12 bhp of power and 12.8Nm of torque. Incidentally, both power and torque have been reduced, and the engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. Yamaha claims that this engine turns out to be 14 per cent more fuel efficient than the earlier 153cc motor. In addition, weight savings over the old bike help offset the reduced power.
Apart from the above, other changes include a new instrument console with an Eco indicator, updated chassis with new front and rear suspension and new puncture resistant tyres. Three colours are on offer- Red Dawn, White Cloud and Black Hawk.
Speaking on the launch of the Fazer FI version 2.0, Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt.
