The Best iOS 8 Keyboards for Every Kind of Typist

Apple's iOS 8 finally gives iPhone users the ability to choose their own touchscreen keyboards. We've compiled a list of the best ones so far.

Apple's latest mobile operating system is finally here, and with it something entirely new for iPhone users: the ability to choose your own touchscreen keyboard. There are already a multitude of options, and we’ve rounded many of them up here to help you choose the keyboard that's right for you.

For starters, the process of installing a third-party keyboard is simple. First, download the app from the App Store as you normally would. Then, add it to your system-wide keyboard options, like you would do with an emoji keyboard. To do this, go to Settings > General > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard. Then go to the section for third-party keyboards, where you should see the keyboard apps you’ve installed (this is new to iOS 8). Tap a keyboard to be taken to its install page, and you’re ready to go. You can download as many keyboards as you want, and swap between them if your preferences change.

So far at least nine third-party companies have promised to debut iOS 8 keyboards in the coming weeks. Here’s a look at what each offers, starting with Apple’s own stock iOS 8 keyboard, which has received a significant update.
