BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed heads of departments to expedite infrastructure projects worth Rs 400 crore in Sambalpur, where civic polls are expected by year-end.
Reviewing progress of the projects sanctioned under housing and urban development, water resources, tourism and culture, transport, science and technology and sports and youth affairs, Naveen directed them to set a deadline to complete those projects.
Most projects are in the drawing board stage, official sources said. Among the projects are the second bridge over the Mahanadi, Khetrajpur road, flyover, ring road at Burla and Sambalpur. The chief minister would again review progress of these projects in November. The government in September 2013 announced to upgrade Sambalpur as a municipal corporation by merging Burla and Hirakud NACs.
