He recently got under the skin of a Bangali criminal mastermind for AR Murugadoss's next. And for his upcoming Bengali venture Shapath, directed jointly by Mayukh Chatterji and Arup Dey Tota Roychoudhury has turned into an Andhra police inspector.
But shooting in Visakhapatnam was far from easy, the actor tells us. We were shooting an action sequence on a busy road in Vizag.
Curious about why the traffic had come to a halt, the cops came calling. The police were miffed when they found out that a Bangla film was being shot on their turf without them being informed. They were about to stop our shooting when our production manager told them that I was playing a daredevil Andhra police inspector," recalls Tota. That was the game changer. The cops didn't stop the unit immediately but kept on observing from a distance what they were doing. When they saw our action scenes, they were quite pleased and allowed us not only to shoot but closed one flank of the road. The people there even dubbed me Bengal's Singham. For the next few days whenever we shot on the streets, the police helped us immensely," adds Tota.
Shapath, which is slated to release next year, will also be dubbed in Telugu.
