Paltrow ‘reprimanded’ for taking her kids to school on scooters

Gwyneth Paltrow appears to have learned a road safety lesson after she was pictured nearly colliding with a bus while picking up one of her kids from school on a scooter.

Gwyneth and Chris Martin had recently been taking their children, Apple, 10, and Moses, 8, to and from their Los Angeles school on two Vespa scooters to avoid waiting with other parents and kids in the car-pool line.

But Gwyneth was caught on video in a near-miss with a school bus last year. TMZ reported, “Paltrow (with one of her young kids on the back of her scooter) darted out into traffic . . . right in front of an oncoming school bus. The bus driver had to slam on the brakes to stop from plowing into the actress.” The site indelicately branded the screen star the “A-hole driver of the year.”

We’re told that following that incident, the “consciously uncoupled” couple were sternly advised by school authorities to find other, safer forms of transport.

A source told us: “The scooters had been convenient for zipping around Los Angeles traffic, and dropping the kids off at school without having to wait with other parents and kids in the car-pool line. But after Gwyneth was photographed on the Vespa pulling out in front of a bus, school chiefs reprimanded her and said they’d rather she and Chris didn’t bring the kids to school on scooters.”

A rep for Chris didn’t get back to us. A rep for Gwyneth insisted, “This story is not true. It was last year that they would occasionally drive the kids to school on scooters. This year, the kids take the bus.” A rep for the school declined to comment.

Earlier this month, Gwyneth said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that she’d recently sent her kids back to school, and “Actually, this is their first year on the bus. They take the bus and then I pick them up at the bus stop. It’s pretty cute. They feel very independent . . . It was great. They seemed really happy. They got off the bus. They were smiling. They had backpacks.”
