Skoda Power, the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of
Doosan Skoda Power, is hopeful to complete the new unit in Bandel by the end of next year. The Czech power company which is now being taken over by Doosan of
Korea is implementing the Bandel unit of 210 MW as
engineering and procurement contractor (EPC). Doosan, the owner of Skoda Power, has got
EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract for the much-talked-about Katwa Power Project of NTPC.

managing director Jaroslav Ira said it is keen to work in more projects in the state. “We met the
power minister and expressed that we are keen to work in
Bengal,” he added.
According to him, Skoda Power is implementing Bandel along with Doosan Power. “Generally, both Skoda Power, a subsidiary of Doosan Skoda Power, and Doosan work separately in India. But in some projects, we are working together,” he added.
Jaroslav pointed out that in India projects below 350 MW is earmarked for Skoda while project above that is being handled by Doosan.
Earlier, Czech ambassador
Miloslav Stasek pointed out about possible areas of co-operation between the Czech companies and companies based in Bengal in an interactive session at the
Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (
BCCI). The focus areas were like possible cooperation with the companies dealing in heavy engineering complicated projects accomplished within a ‘turnkey’ contract.
He also emphasized on areas like power and nuclear power engineering, transport engineering; extinguishing technology, steel cylinders and vessels; large investment assemblies, information technologies and green technologies.
