Shukla flays Modi Govt’s silence on boundary issue with China
Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said here on Thursday that India should raise the boundary dispute with China during the ongoing talks in New Delhi.
Shukla, who is also general secretary of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, stated that India should have friendly ties with China but solve the border dispute. During Congress regime, BJP always used to rake up border issue and claimed that it bring back all encroached land.
Now, when it is in power, nobody is talking about that. This shows the double standard of this party.
When asked about ‘love jihad’, Shukla stated that people of UP had rejected it. It was a brainchild of BJP which had tried to polarize people on the basis communities. But peace loving people of this state rejected BJP’s plan.
About alliance with Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra, Shukla said that negotiations are still going on. It is too early to make any a comment. “Congress is hopeful of alliance. Afterall, we were partners in previous government.”
When asked to make a comment on Hema Malini’s statement that Vrindavan had no space for widows of Bengal, he said that he is not aware about such statement.
According to Constitution, every Indian has liberty to live anywhere inside the country. In Bengal, there was a custom that widows used to live in Mathura and Vrindavan in the shelter of Lord Krishna. Therefore, no one could stop that. If she had given that statement, then it was a wrong one.
