Griffith Police expecting more arrests as part of marijuana sting
Griffith Police admit while they will never stop cannabis being grown in the region, they are making progress.
Criminals don't operate within a local area command they operate across boundaries and I think this is probably a great example of where that collaborative approach has worked and we get the results that we do.
Two men were arrested in the city yesterday as a part of Strike Force Oceanic, which was set up in 2012 in collaboration with the Far South Coast Command, to investigate the cultivation of commercial quantities of marijuana.
The police operation netted $6m of cannabis from a property at Crowther in February.
Griffith Commander, Detective Superintendent Michael Rowan, says one man has been charged with cultivating a large commercial cannabis crop and both with participating in a organised criminal group.
He is confident police are breaking through the illegal drug trade.
"We're making inroads into disrupting it," he said.
"I would never say that we will stop it.

"We executed two warrants on premises at Griffith and a couple of males have been arrested.
"They're in the process of now being charged.
