Jon Flanagan has been ruled out for "a few months", manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.
The 21-year-old hasn’t featured for the Reds this season after being hampered by fluid on his knee during the club’s pre-season tour of America.
Flanagan went under surgery on his left knee to try to correct the problem and will know face months out on the sideline.
Rodgers said, "Young Jon Flanagan, unfortunately, has just had an operation that will probably have him out for a few months - which is disappointing."
Meanwhile, there was some good news for Liverpool with Rodgers confirming that Martin Skrtel was fit to return to first team football.
