BHOPAL: Jolted by the bloody clash on MANIT campus involving Afghan and Bangladeshi students, the college authorities have given a 'terror' spin to the violence. MANIT brass has shot off a letter to ministry of human resources development and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) informing them about suspicious activity of some foreign students on the campus.
The clash left at least three students seriously injured, including an Indian who tried to intervene.
As the campus remains tense, MANIT authorities are keeping vigil on students from Afghanistan and four security guards are escorting them on the campus. And to pre-empt further violence, security guards are keeping 24X7 watch on their movements. Sources said MANIT authorities are furious after first-year Afghan students attacked a Bangladeshi student and critically injured him.
After the incident, resentment is sweeping on the campus among first-year foreign students, who are demanding action against accused students.
Talking to TOI, first year computer science student from Bangladesh, Rifat said, "I am here to study and not to fight with anyone. My left hand is in a bad shape and I also received injuries on head. I was attacked without provocation."
Rifat is a meritorious student and Indian government has provided him 100% scholarship. He was selected in MANIT from among 7,500 students participated in the entrance test.
Another first-year student said, "It is strange authorities are not acting against accused students, despite complaints against them."
Students alleged they are being threatened by Afghans to keep mum. "We are very scared. Anything could happen on the campus,"

When contacted, director MANIT, Appu Kuttan KK said, "We will place the issue before proctor committee. I have also written to Indian Council of Cultural Relation (ICCR) and HRD ministry informing them about the situation. We are waiting for their reply."
On allegations that final year students entered juniors' hostel, he said, "I am told a student from Afghanistan had entered the hostel. We will look into this issue also."
