The Serbian-born tactician says the Chilli Boys management team went against their contract agreement when they hired Mich d'Avray as their technical director.
Papic did not enjoy his short spell with the Port Elizabeth-based team after joining them from Black Leopards in the off-season.
“Yes I resigned as the Chippa United head coach,” said Papic.
“It's old news now and we are no longer talking about that.
“I left a quality team with players who have a bright future ahead of them.
“There were disputes between me and the management team.
“They brought in a technical director which was against out contract agreement.
“That was not part of our contract.
“So I didn’t know what they agreed with him but I didn’t want to be a middle man between the two parties.
“That is their decision to hire him.
“So that is the reason why I decided to step aside and move on.
“But what they did was really unpleasant and not part of our agreement.”
Papic is no stranger to handing resignations to his employers, having previously done so at Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg United and Black Leopards.
The 54-year-old coach joined Rise and Shine following the departure of Boebie Solomons and marked his debut with a 2-2 stalemate against AmaZulu over the weekend.
Papic will be hoping to help the Limpopo side avoid relegation this season.
Polokwane City are currently 15th in the standings, one point ahead of bottom club, Usuthu.
